Matt Harvey says he had bladder infection from holding pee too long
New York Mets fans were incredibly concerned on Monday to learn that Matt Harvey was visiting with a doctor because of an undisclosed issue and might not be able to start on Opening Day. As it turns out, the right-hander is going to be fine.
He just needs to stop holding it.
Harvey told reporters Tuesday morning that he has been dealing with a bladder infection that created a blood clot. He claims the problem was caused by not peeing enough.
Harvey speaking now. Had a bladder infection that created a clot. Had a procedure. Believes he will pitch Sunday.

Harvey says he holds his urine in too long. Has to learn to pee more often.

Well, that’s a relief.
The early part of Harvey’s career has been a bit of a soap opera between his arm issues and missing important workouts for dumb reasons. The last thing fans wanted to hear is that something else was wrong with Harvey’s throwing arm, so blood clots in the bladder — which doesn’t sound fun — certainly feels like a dodged bullet. Mets faithful can go back to worrying about innings limits now.
