New York Mets players held a meeting after Saturday’s ugly loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Mets lost to the Pirates 9-2 at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Saturday. That came after they lost 9-1 to the Pirates on Friday. Saturday’s game was 3-2 for most of the way before the Pirates broke away with six runs in the bottom of the 8th.

The Mets had gone on a 7-game losing streak recently and have gone 3-12 in their last 15 games. The poor recent run led the team’s players to gather for a meeting after Saturday’s defeat. We know about the meeting because the media had to wait before entering the team’s clubhouse.

Mets reporter Mike Puma provided some details about the meeting. Several players apparently spoke during the meeting, including Juan Soto, Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso.

Nimmo says six or seven players spoke during the meeting, including Lindor and Alonso.

Juan Soto was among those who spoke during the players' only meeting, according to a source.
Soto's message? "Keep going. Believe in it."

“Everybody is pulling for each other,” Lindor said of the message. “There is a sense of urgency, everybody loves each other. Everybody is on the same page.”

Despite their bad run recently, the Mets still are 48-36, which had them a half-game behind the Phillies for the NL East lead at the time this was published. Most teams would love to go through a losing stretch like that and still be in the mix for first place in their division.
