The Miami Marlins’ terrible season continued on Sunday, and the team’s official social media account contributed to their newest low.
The Marlins posted six runs in the first inning Sunday against the Washington Nationals, a rare big inning that the team’s X account was eager to point out. Their fans seemed to know better, however; one fan by the name of Will responded by saying the team would blow that lead by the fifth inning.
We’ll blow it by the 5th

The Marlins were not impressed with Will’s lack of faith, replying with “shhh will.” Unfortunately for the Marlins, Will turned out to be correct.
Even after adding a seventh run in the second inning, the Marlins could not hold on. The Nationals scored five times in the fourth and four times in the fifth to take a 9-7 lead, meaning the Marlins did in fact blow it by the end of the fifth inning.

Credit to whoever runs the account, because they took it in stride even after the post went viral. They also made clear they were going to wear the post instead of deleting it.
it's rough out here.

The Marlins wound up losing 12-9, dropping them to 6-23 on the season.
The year has been a disaster for the Marlins, whose playoff appearance in 2023 feels like ancient history now. From poor performances to brutal injuries, just about everything has gone wrong, and it doesn’t appear likely to get better anytime soon.
