Miguel Olivo in spring training: I want to be like Mike Tyson without the ear biting
One of the most bizarre incidents between teammates in MLB history took place earlier this week, when Miguel Olivo bit a teammate’s ear during a fight. The recipient of the bite, Dodgers prospect Alex Guerrero, could miss more than a month after he had to have the piece of his ear that Olivo bit off surgically repaired. Some might say the team should have seen this coming.
How? During spring training, Olivo took a few minutes for a lighthearted interview with Carlos Maxwell of Telemundo 51 in Miami. Those of you who speak Spanish will immediately find this video to be hilarious:
And for those of you who don’t habla Espanol, here’s the translation that Maxwell provided:
“I would like to be a boxer like Mike Tyson but without biting an ear.”
I’m sorry, did he say without the ear biting? We don’t know how Olivo would do in the ring, but we know he can bite ears like a champion. Oh, the irony.
