Mike Scioscia confirms he will not return as Angels manager
Los Angeles Angels manager Mike Scioscia confirmed on Sunday that he will not return to the team in 2019.
During his postgame press conference after the Angels’ season-ending victory, which was shown live on the stadium scoreboard, Scioscia said he would step down and not return to the Angels in 2019, confirming months of speculation.
I am going to step down. I will not be returning to manage the Angels next year. -Scioscia

Scioscia became emotional during the announcement, and did not rule out working again.
“I’m really happy, guys,” says Mike Scioscia, fighting through the tears.

Scioscia on what’s next: Mastro’s tonight with his wife. And? “I love managing. You never know when an opportunity comes.”

It was reported in early August that this would be Scioscia’s final season with the Angels, though he vehemently denied it at the time.
The Angels won Scioscia’s finale 5-4 in walkoff fashion with three runs in the bottom of the ninth. He ends his 19-year career at the helm of the Angels with a 1,650-1,428 record, six AL West championships, and one World Series title.
