Mike Trout was about as mad after Sunday’s game as we ever see Mike Trout get.
Trout and the Los Angeles Angels earned a dramatic 8-7 victory over the Seattle Mariners after 11 innings at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif. But unfortunately for Trout, he had to exit the game in the eighth inning after getting hit on the left hand by a pitch from Seattle’s Casey Legumina.

After the game, Trout spoke with reporters and was clearly peeved. He called out the Mariners for being reckless with their inside pitches to him.
“We know where they’re trying to get me out, fastballs up and in, so it’s just frustrating,” said Trout, per Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com. “You know, if you can’t control it up there, you shouldn’t do it. So it is what it is.”
The resentment from Trout had been brewing all series. For context, Trout took back-to-back pitches upstairs from Seattle’s Bryan Woo during his very first at-bat in Friday’s season opener, the second of which plunked him too.

X-rays after Sunday’s game on Trout’s hand were reportedly negative, but he was said to be dealing with some swelling. Meanwhile, it is tough to give Seattle the benefit of the doubt here since Trout has been complaining about upstairs pitches from them for several years now.
