MLB All-Star starting pitchers are rematch of 2017
For the second consecutive year, the Major League Baseball All-Star game will feature the same two starting pitchers.
It was announced Monday that Boston Red Sox left-hander Chris Sale would start the game for the American League, while Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer would get the nod for the National League. It will be the second consecutive year the two start the All-Star Game against each other.

This is Sale’s third consecutive start for the American League. He started the 2016 game as a member of the Chicago White Sox. It’s Scherzer’s second consecutive nod and third start overall, as he started the 2013 All-Star Game while a member of the Detroit Tigers.
It’s hard to argue with Sale, who leads the American League in ERA. Some would definitely argue that New York Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom, owner of a league-best 1.68 ERA, deserved the nod for the National League, but manager Dave Roberts has gone with the reigning Cy Young winner instead.
