Report: MLB, MLBPA expected to compromise on salary, financial matters
The disconnect between MLB and the MLBPA has some concerned that a lack of deal on player salaries and other financial issues could completely wipe out the 2020 season. Apparently, those in the game know that’s not an option.
According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, there is a belief within the game that some sort of compromise will be reached, as all involved know the potential ramifications of a lost season.
Belief is, both sides will compromise, MLB from the 50-50 revenue sharing split idea they like and players union from prorated pay for players over 82 games. Many still see a gap, but reason for optimism is understanding on both sides what cancellation of season would do to sport

Canceling the 2020 MLB season over a lack of an agreement would be brutal for the sport. MLB has claimed major financial losses without a season, even worse than if games are played without fans. That doesn’t even count the bad PR that would come from it, especially with other leagues moving toward restarting without any of these issues.
A new proposal is coming next week. Hopefully it puts the wheels in motion toward an actual deal.
