Nationals’ Asdrubal Cabrera hurt his ankle getting thrown out at the plate
Asdrubal Cabrera sure had a sequence to forget on Saturday against Miami.
The Washington Nationals infielder was thrown out at home plate in the fourth inning of the eventual 10-4 victory over the Marlins and immediately came up hobbling, ultimately going straight to the locker room. Here is video:

Cabrera would return to the game though, picking up an RBI base hit in the fifth inning and then another single in the eighth. At that point however, he came out of the contest for a pinch-runner. Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reported afterwards that Cabrera indeed injured his ankle on the slide and would be re-evaluated in the morning.
The former All-Star has been one of the Nationals’ most productive hitters of late (batting .308 in 30 games since signing with them), so they can ill afford to lose Cabrera amid their battle for a Wild Card spot in the NL. You have to wonder though if this is the worst way a Nationals player has injured himself.
