The Washington Nationals have signed plenty of big-name starting pitchers in recent years, and with one still tantalizingly on the market with March around the corner, it looks like it may happen again.

According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Nationals are monitoring the market of pitcher Jake Arrieta, and “remain engaged” as he seeks a new team.

The Washington #Nats remain engaged with Jake Arrieta and continue to monitor market as he remains top prize.

The Nationals have signed plenty of Scott Boras clients before, so they won’t shy away from that. That said, they’ve been interested for months and have yet to act. Perhaps his price is dropping as most of his other options appear to have dried up, which may make a signing possible.
