The Washington Nationals have reportedly agreed to terms with free agent second baseman Daniel Murphy.
Sources told ESPN’s Jim Bowden that the deal will be worth $37.5 million over three years.
Murphy obliterated the Dodgers and Cubs during the 2015 postseason, at one point homering in six consecutive games over the NLDS and NLCS. Murphy, who turns 31 next April, hit .281 for the Mets last season, and his 14 regular season homers were a career high. He is not, however, a great defensive second baseman.

The Nats turned to Murphy after a reported trade for Brandon Phillips fell through. Murphy is younger, slightly less expensive, and coming off a better overall season than Phillips, so this could prove to be a blessing in disguise for Washington.
