Nick Swisher pushes Ike Davis fly ball over wall for home run (Video)

Ike Davis hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the first of the Mets-Yankees series opener on Friday, but it came thanks to some help from Nick Swisher.

The Yankees right fielder was tracking Davis’ fly ball down the line and seemed to have his jump perfectly timed. Unfortunately, he missed on his catch and seemed to send the ball over the fence for a homer.

“It definitely hit my glove, there’s no doubt about that,” Swisher said, according to the New York Post. “I just couldn’t pull it in. I wish I could have.”

The play was enough to help the Mets win the game 6-4. I realize that making a catch against the wall isn’t easy, but it’s not like the Yankees were asking Swisher to pull off something amazing like this. He could have had that ball, and he knows it.
