Nick Swisher had a night to forget with the Cleveland Indians (Video)
Nick Swisher had one of the most embarrassing nights of his career on Monday night, and it may have cost the Cleveland Indians the game against the Detroit Tigers.
As you can see from the video above, Swisher forgot the words that every Little League coach tries to drill into his players’ heads: “Always run it out!” In the top of the eighth inning with the game tied 2-2, he watched a ball start foul down the third base line but trickle into fair territory. Noticing that Swisher wasn’t paying attention, Tigers catcher Brayan Pena grabbed the ball and sprinted over to tag him out.
There is no excuse for a brain fart like that in a tie game in the eighth, but Swisher wasn’t done there. He also had a “derp” moment while rounding third base when the Indians were trying to mount a comeback in the 10th inning.
The slip may not have been his fault, but it was equally embarrassing. Then again, this isn’t the first time Swisher has committed a bonehead play that will find its way onto SportsCenter’s “Not Top 10.”
