Nick Swisher sitting out remainder of season to be with family
Earlier this year, Nick Swisher returned to the organization he spent four seasons and won a World Series with. Swisher signed a minor league deal with the Yankees that included an opt-out clause if he was still in Triple-A on June 15.
Swisher played in 55 games for the Yankees’ Triple-A affiliate Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, where he hit .255 with six doubles, seven home runs, and 25 RBI. However, it looks as though Swisher’s season has come to an end and there won’t be a return to Yankee Stadium this year.
On Saturday, the 35-year-old revealed through a series of tweets he has decided to sit out the remainder of the 2016 season to spend time with his family.
After the birth of my second child, I’ve decided to take a step back and spend the rest of this season with my wife and two daughters. (1/6)
