Petco Park went nuts after Fernando Tatis Jr.’s huge home run
Fernando Tatis Jr. hit the first home run of the 2024 MLB postseason, and his dinger had Petco Park going nuts.
Tatis was batting second in the bottom of the first inning of Game 1 of the NL Wild Card Series between his Padres and the Atlanta Braves at Petco Park in San Diego, Calif. on Tuesday.
Tatis took the first pitch he saw from AJ Smith-Shawver and blasted a 94-mph fastball to deep left field for a massive 2-run home run. Tatis knew the ball was gone immediately and began to celebrate and admire his work before running around the bases:

That immediate 2-run home run from Tatis gave San Diego all the momentum they needed. The Padres added a third run in the second on an RBI sac fly from Kyle Higashioka. Higashioka added a solo home run in the 8th to make it 4-0, which was the final.
Game 2 in the best-of-3 series is on Wednesday.
