Pete Alonso made sure to reward the New York Mets fan who was gracious enough to return his 300th home run ball.
The Baltimore Orioles slugger fittingly sent his 300th career home run into the seats at Citi Field in Queens, N.Y. Alonso’s solo shot tied the game 3-3 with one out in the top of the 9th inning, eventually sending the game to extra innings.
Alonso was fired up as the ball flew toward the second deck in left field. He threw his bat away the moment he made contact and knew it was gone.

It was a strange scene at Citi Field as fans cheered for Alonso, who played seven seasons with the Mets, despite the home run preventing their team from securing a win. The Orioles went on to win 7-5 after 11 innings.
Alonso met up with the fan who caught the ball after the game. The All-Star slugger signed balls, bats, and jerseys for the fan and his two buddies.
Alonso then took it a step further. He grabbed the trio some beer and promised them that if they ever wanted to catch an Orioles game at Camden Yards, Alonso would host them for a VIP experience.

They exchanged the ball for signed baseballs, bats and Alonso to sign their jerseys.

Alonso was a fan favorite from the moment he hit his first home run in a Mets uniform back in 2019. He left New York as the franchise leader in home runs with 264.
Alonso getting to 300 career home runs as an opposing player at his old ballpark was a bittersweet moment for most Mets fans in attendance. The three fans who got a whole care package and shared a beer with Alonso probably wouldn’t have it any other way.
