Former MLB All-Star Rafael Furcal is facing two felony charges over an alleged incident that took place in Florida earlier this week.

According to arrest records that were reviewed by Chris Gothner WPLG Local 10 in Miami, Furcal turned himself in to authorities in Broward County, Fla., on Wednesday after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Furcal, 47, is facing felony charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and throwing a deadly missile into an occupied vehicle. No further details were released about the alleged incident, which occurred on Monday.

The Florida law regarding the missile-related charge reads as follows:

“Whoever, wantonly or maliciously, shoots at, within, or into, or throws any missile or hurls or projects a stone or other hard substance which would produce death or great bodily harm, at, within, or in any public or private building, occupied or unoccupied, or public or private bus or any train, locomotive, railway car, caboose, cable railway car, street railway car, monorail car, or vehicle of any kind which is being used or occupied by any person, or any boat, vessel, ship, or barge lying in or plying the waters of this state, or aircraft flying through the airspace of this state shall be guilty of a felony of the second degree..”

Furcal played 14 MLB seasons split between the Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals and Miami Marlins. He was named an All-Star three times and won the NL Rookie of the Year award in 2000.

A career .281 hitter, Furcal won a World Series with the Cardinals in 2011. The Dominican Republic native had 113 home runs, 587 RBI and 314 stolen bases during his career.

The arrest is not the first for Furcal. He was also arrested for driving while under the influence during his rookie year in 2000 and again in 2004.
