Rangers P Luke Farrell suffers broken jaw after being hit by line drive
Texas Rangers relief pitcher Luke Farrell suffered a broken jaw after being hit by a line drive during Saturday’s spring training game.
Farrell was taken to the hospital after being hit in the face during the 9th inning of the team’s Cactus League game against the Giants. Rangers communications executive John Blake said on Twitter that tests showed Farrell has a non-displaced jaw fracture. He also said Farrell has been released from the hospital.
Rangers pitcher Luke Farrell was hit by a line drive on right side of his jaw in the 9th inning of Saturday’s game at SF. A CT scan, X-rays, and exam indicate he has a non-displaced fracture of his jaw. He was released from the hospital and will see a specialist on Monday.

Farrell was claimed by the Rangers off waivers in January. The 27-year-old went 3-4 with a 5.17 ERA in 31.1 innings for the Cubs last season. Luke is the son of former Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell.
