There have already been some rumblings that the neck injury is something Wright could end up dealing with even after he returns from the disabled list. The 33-year-old has reportedly told some people close to him that there are mornings when he doesn’t even want to get out of bed.
Wright is batting a career-worst .226 this season with seven homers and 14 RBI. He has dealt with health issues the past two seasons, as he was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and only played in 38 games last year. The Mets are hopeful he will be able to bounce back to his pre-injury form, but that is easier said than done at Wright’s age.
