Same NL team favored to sign 3 top free agents
The same National League team is the betting favorite to sign three of the top remaining free agents.
The San Francisco Giants missed out on signing both Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto despite their best efforts. After missing out on the Japanese stars, the Giants are seemingly determined to land some difference-making players.
SportsBetting.ag listed the odds Friday for which team several top free agents will play next. The free agents listed were Blake Snell, Cody Bellinger, Jordan Montgomery, Josh Hader and Matt Chapman.
The website has the Giants listed as even money favorites to sign both Snell and Chapman. The Giants are also heavy favorites to sign Bellinger at +125 odds.
The Giants were not listed among the contending teams to sign Hader, probably because their bullpen is already a strength thanks to All-Star closer Camilo Doval. San Francisco is listed at 5-1 odds to sign Montgomery, which is behind the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Angels and New York Yankees.
The obvious implication is that the Giants have money and are looking to spend to improve. The Giants have made runs at Bryce Harper and Aaron Judge in recent years but came up short. They also were in contention for Ohtani and Yamamoto, only to lose both players to the rival Dodgers.
After posting a winning record just once in the last seven years, the Giants are ready to turn things around.
