Report: Six teams may be in mix to sign Dallas Keuchel after draft
Dallas Keuchel is still without an MLB team over two months into the season, but that could change very shortly.
Appearing this week on the “Big Time Baseball” podcast, MLB Network’s Jon Heyman listed six teams who could be in the hunt to sign the veteran left-hander after the MLB Draft. Specifically, Heyman mentioned the New York Yankees, the Tampa Bay Rays, the Atlanta Braves, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Minnesota Twins, and the Milwaukee Brewers.
Keuchel, the former Cy Young Award winner, remains unsigned, largely due to the draft pick compensation that would come with landing him. That compensation will disappear upon the completion of the draft on Jun. 5.
While all the aforementioned teams are contenders or near-contenders who could use another quality southpaw in the rotation, one club that is noticeably absent from that list is Keuchel’s reported preference.
