Another member of the Ramirez family is headed to play pro baseball.

Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News reported on Wednesday that Hansel Ramirez, the 17-year-old son of ex-MLB All-Star Hanley Ramirez, has signed with the Texas Rangers as part of their international free agent class. With Wednesday marking the beginning of the international signing period, Hansel is receiving a $125,000 signing bonus as part of the deal.

Hanley shared a photo from the signing event featuring him posing together with his son (with a cameo from David Ortiz, Hanley’s former teammate on the Boston Red Sox, as well). “Blessed,” Hanley wrote in the caption.

Now 41 years old, Hanley played in Major League Baseball for five different teams from 2005-19. The righty-hitting shortstop was a three-time career All-Star and a two-time Silver Slugger Award winner. He also won an NL batting title in 2009 by hitting .342 for the then-Florida Marlins.

As for Hansel, he plays the third base position and is a righty hitter just like his father was. If he has even a little bit of the swagger that Hanley had during his MLB career, the Rangers organization is in for a real show.
