Terry Collins hospitalized before game, said to be ‘not feeling well’

Mets manager Terry Collins was sent to the hospital before the team’s game against Milwaukee on Sunday.

The 67-year-old manager was alert and conscious and talking with the team’s assistant GM John Ricco, according to Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News. The team would only reveal that Collins was “not feeling well” and was sent to the hospital for further testing after consulting the team’s trainers.

Bench coach Dick Scott served as acting manager for Sunday’s game.

Luckily, Collins’s condition does not sound too dire, and hopefully it’s just a minor issue. The Mets have had their share of health scares in recent months, with general manager Sandy Alderson facing a treatable form of cancer after going through another health scare of his own.
