Tony Bosch said Manny Ramirez got caught for not following his ‘protocols’
Alex Rodriguez explained his relationship with Biogenesis founder Anthony Bosch in a meeting with the Drug Enforcement Agency back in January. According to a recent report, A-Rod confessed everything in exchange for immunity.
The 15-page synopsis that was analyzed by The Miami Herald details how Rodriguez met Bosch and what he purchased from him — at least how Rodriguez has described it. When A-Rod’s cousin Yuri Sucart introduced the Yankees slugger to Bosch in 2010, Bosch allegedly bragged about doing business with Manny Ramirez.
“During the meeting, Bosch told Rodriguez that he treated hundreds of baseball players,” the DEA report said. “Bosch told Rodriguez [that former Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox outfielder] Manny Ramirez was one of his clients. Bosch took credit for how well Ramirez performed in baseball.”
Ramirez, as you know, was suspended multiple times by Major League Baseball for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. A-Rod had met Bosch less than a year after Manny was given a 50-game ban for testing positive. Rodriguez says Bosch insisted Ramirez got caught because he didn’t follow the right “protocols.”
The “protocols” that Bosch referred to involved providing a urine sample a certain way. Rodriguez told DEA agents that he beat an MLB drug test while using steroids by following Bosch’s advice.
Ramirez and A-Rod were among nine current and former professional baseball players who were reportedly granted immunity for cooperating with prosecutors. Ryan Braun was also on the list.
