Rosenthal experienced tightness in his arm and did not pitch well in his final outing last week. He was initially placed on the 10-day DL as the Cardinals conducted tests on his elbow. Dr. Neal ElAttrache reviewed the scans and decided that Tommy John surgery will be the best course of action for the closer.
Cardinals pre and post-game host Chris Hrabe says Dr. ElAttrache will perform the surgery next week.
