Umpire CB Bucknor is having a rough season, and his game on Sunday crystalized his struggles.
The Umpire Auditor X account had Bucknor marked down for 15 missed calls while behind the plate calling balls and strikes during the Colorado Rockies’ 12-5 win over the Athletics. 11 of the 15 bad calls went against the Rockies, and four came on strikeout pitches. Bucknor very clearly expanded the zone when a strikeout was on the line.

Bucknor called 80 percent of the strikes in the game incorrectly, which was well below the league average of 88 percent for a game.
