Vin Scully opposes Pete Rose’s inclusion in Hall of Fame

Vin Scully says Pete Rose doesn’t belong in the Hall of Fame.

The longtime Dodgers broadcaster was interviewed by AARP Magazine, and the Associated Press obtained a transcript in which Scully was asked if he’d vote Pete Rose into the Hall of Fame if he had a vote.

“I wouldn’t,” Scully said, via Yahoo Sports. “Should he be in? He should be. But by his own hand, he locked the door and kept himself outside.”

Well, if an authority like Scully says so, discussion over. It should be noted that the broadcaster does not have a Hall of Fame vote, however.

It’s not up to Scully anyway. Commissioner Rob Manfred declined to reinstate Rose in December, with Rose admitting that he still bets on baseball. It’s difficult to argue with Scully’s assertion when Rose not only did wrong, but seems blind to the fact that he did and hasn’t shown even a hint of remorse.
