Twitter reacts to Ken Giles punching himself in head after blowing game

Ken Giles punch

Ken Giles took his frustration out on himself after allowing four runs to the New York Yankees in the ninth inning of Tuesday’s game, earning him some ridicule.

Giles entered a scoreless game in the ninth inning after Justin Verlander pitched an outstanding eight innings. He allowed a single to Aaron Judge, a double to Didi Gregorius, got a strikeout, and then he gave up a 3-run home run to Gary Sanchez. Aaron Hicks followed with a single of his own and that was the last batter Giles faced.

After being pulled from the game, Giles appeared to punch himself in the head.

Following Giles’ implosion, Twitter had fun with the inability of the Astros closer to keep the game scoreless.

Giles struggled with effectiveness during last year’s World Series run by the Astros, losing his job as the closer along the way. However, he has gotten off to a strong start so far this season. Prior to Tuesday’s game, Giles had allowed just two earned runs in 10 innings.
