Watch: Kole Calhoun guns out runner at plate to save Angels’ win
Whatever Kole Calhoun isn’t doing at the plate this season he’s trying to make up for in the field.
Calhoun threw out a runner at the plate for a double play in the bottom of the 9th inning to help seal the Los Angeles Angels’ 5-4 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night.
Teoscar Hernandez was batting with runners on the corners and nobody out and drove a fly ball to right. It looked sure to score Curtis Granderson, but Calhoun hosed him at the plate with a beautiful throw on the fly.
The @Angels needed a hero.

Two batters later, Blake Parker struck out Justin Smoak to end the game.
That was Calhoun’s seventh assist of the season. He’s only batting .154 but at least making big plays on defense.
