Watch: Trevor Bauer furiously throws ball over center field wall before pitching change
Trevor Bauer was unable to make it through five innings in his start against the Kansas City Royals on Sunday, and the Cleveland Indians ace had a mini-meltdown before being removed from the game.
Bauer was so unhappy when Indians manager Terry Francona went to pull him in the fifth inning that he turned toward center field and launched the ball over the outfield wall. Francona was not pleased with the way he was shown up, though the right-hander appeared to apologize immediately.
So, um Bauer is really reaaaaaally unhappy. Holy cow. #AlwaysRoyal pic.twitter.com/TJDh6ynMOu

Bauer allowed nine hits and seven earned runs in 4 1/3 innings, so Francona was certainly justified in giving him the hook. The pitcher was likely more frustrated with himself than anything, but that’s still a bad look.
Bauer has been the subject of numerous trade rumors in recent weeks, and it’s unclear if that will impact anyone’s opinion of him. We already knew he had a fiery personality for the way he has gone after some opponents in the past, but his stunt on Sunday was certainly a first.
