Wind pushes pitcher off mound, causes balk (Video)
A pitcher getting called for a balk because he lost his footing is nothing unusual. A pitcher losing his footing because of a gust of wind, however, is a bit more rare.
That’s exactly what happened during a minor league game between the Salt Lake Bees, the Triple-A affiliate of the Angels, and the Royals-affiliated Omaha Storm Chasers on Saturday. Bees pitcher Troy Scribner was getting ready to deliver when a strong wind caused him to nearly fall off the mound.
When the beat drops and also the wind is like 60 miles per hour and you balk because of it pic.twitter.com/sQEbUAJ768

Here’s the full video:
Winds were reportedly gusting up to 70 mph in Salt Lake City, so you can understand why Scribner lost his balance. If you want to see an embarrassing balk, just have a look at this one from CC Sabathia last season. There’s nothing to be ashamed of when a 70 mph gust gets the best of you.
