Fans react to the ridiculous hat Yankees are selling for Dodgers series

Shohei Ohtani-Aaron Judge split cap offered during Yankees-Dodgers series

The New York Yankees have one of the more unusual merch store items for sale with Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers visiting Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, N.Y.

The Yankees tried to take advantage of the Ohtani hype by offering split caps with the names of both Ohtani and Aaron Judge embroidered on them. If your first thought was that the hat sounds kind of bizarre, you’d be right.

Several fans on X chimed in regarding the head-scratching piece of headgear. Some wondered who the target market was, while others felt the hats were flat-out ugly.

Others felt that anyone who actually buys the Yankees’ weird Ohtani-Judge cap either belongs in an insane asylum or in jail.

But at least a few fans respected the Yankees’ hustle. If additional cap income could help fund a long-term extension for Juan Soto, then it’s hard to throw shade at the move. Maybe a a Soto-Ohtani cap could be next?

Selling opposing team gear isn’t exactly the norm. But Ohtani’s immense superstardom is the furthest thing from normal too.

The Dodgers also don’t come to visit Yankee Stadium very often. Their last trip to the Bronx was all the way back in 2016.
