Brad Stevens

Al Horford called Brad Stevens a “genius” after the head coach’s calls helped the Boston Celtics win Game 3 of their Eastern Conference semifinals playoff series with the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday.

Stevens drew up some beautiful out of bounds plays late in the game, including one that resulted in the game-winning basket by Horford.

“Brad is a genius man,” Horford told ESPN after the game. “Unbelievable. Sometimes he draws stuff up and I look at it, I’m like (questioning it) but Marcus (Morris) delivered it, great pass, I missed some shots that I normally make there, but I made that one so it was good.”

Not only was the play perfectly drawn up, but Stevens also had the foresight to call a timeout so they could set up a play. This team being on the verge of reaching the Eastern Conference finals despite not having Kyrie Irving or Gordon Hayward speaks to the level of coaching Stevens has done.
