Amar’e Stoudemire wants to play in NBA next season
Former NBA All-Star Amar’e Stoudemire is intent on playing in the NBA next season.
Stoudemire, who has been participating in Ice Cube’s Big 3 league, said Thursday that his goal is to play in the NBA during the 2018-19 season.
“I feel great,” Stoudemire told TMZ Sports. “I feel like I’m in top shape.”
Stoudemire said he would consider playing overseas in Israel if the NBA doesn’t work out, but he believes there is a market for his services in the United States.
Stoudemire has been making noise about an NBA return recently. He’s still 35, so theoretically he’s young enough to get back into the league without it looking unprecedented. That said, he hasn’t played in the NBA since his stint with the Miami Heat in 2015-16.
