Anthony Edwards fined by NBA over middle-finger incident
Anthony Edwards’ one-fingered salute will end up costing him some money.
The NBA announced on Sunday that they are fining the Minnesota Timberwolves star Edwards $35,000. During Friday’s game against the Sacramento Kings, Edwards flashed the middle finger to a fan, which the league deemed “an obscene gesture.”
The incident occurred in the first quarter of Minnesota’s eventual 130-126 win over Sacramento in an NBA Cup game. Edwards was called for a charge and then proceeded to flip off a Kings fan who was apparently talking trash to him from the seats.

Edwards would get the last laugh, finishing with 36 points on six triples as the Timberwolves went on to win in overtime. But he had to have known a fine was coming his way given the NBA’s history of such punishments (though past middle-finger fines have been significantly less costly).
