Ben Simmons’ new jersey number with Nets leads to jokes

Ben Simmons on the court

Ben Simmons has barely been with the Brooklyn Nets for 24 hours, but he is already providing material for jokes.

The Nets announced on Friday that Simmons, who was just acquired from the Philadelphia 76ers as part of the James Harden blockbuster trade, will wear the No. 10 jersey in Brooklyn.

Simmons previously wore the No. 25 jersey both in Philly and in college at LSU. But many noticed that the No. 10 jersey will make Simmons “Ben 10.” That is the name of a popular children’s TV show on “Cartoon Network.” Thus, the jersey choice led to some funny “Ben 10” jokes on Twitter.

The main character in the show “Ben 10” is a ten-year-old boy who finds a watch that gives him superpowers, namely the ability to transform into ten different aliens with different abilities. That kind of versatility might be good inspiration for Simmons. But unfortunately, he may need to find a magic watch of his own in order to get the superpower known as “jump shooting.”

At least Simmons’ No. 10 jersey in Brooklyn will be a much better seller than his previous jersey appears to be right about now.
