Boby Portis didn’t watch where he was stepping during Thursday’s game, and he got himself a surprise beer shower as a result.
Portis and the Milwaukee Bucks played at home against the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday. During the second quarter, Portis hit a fadeaway jump shot over Pelicans counterpart Karlo Matkovic and ended up by the fans sitting courtside. One fan had apparently left a can of beer on the ground, and Portis (regrettably) ended up stepping right on it.
The beer can immediately exploded into a spontaneous heap of alcoholic suds. As a result, Portis and several fans got caught in the middle of the splash zone.

Here is the video.
The best part there had to have been Portis’ confused look as he was running back up the floor. It was only the start of the second quarter too, so that beer probably still had plenty left in the tank.
Portis, who recently returned from a 25-game suspension for violating the NBA’s anti-drug policy, finished with 14 points and eight rebounds off the bench in his 22 minutes of action. Milwaukee also went on to beat New Orleans 136-111. They are now 46-34 on the year and are likely to be the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
As for the beer misstep (literally), at least it could have been far worse for Portis there. We saw in another professional sport a few months ago that a head coach ended up bloodied after getting struck by a beer can.
