Bobby Portis laughs at Bulls’ reason for trading him
Bobby Portis was traded by the Chicago Bulls to the Washington Wizards on Wednesday, and he finds Chicago’s reason for the trade to be laughable.
The Bulls traded Portis and Jabari Parker to Washington for Otto Porter, who is still owed $55 million over the next two seasons. Washington made the trade because they are looking to cut costs; Parker and Portis can be let go after the season.
So why did Chicago trade a valuable piece like Portis? Bulls President of Basketball Operations John Paxson said it was because the team was hesitant to spend money on a backup big man when they had another hole to fill. Portis saw that tweet and responded with an “Lol”, which is an acronym for “laughing out loud.”

Portis was described by teammates as a leader in the locker room, which explains why he was shocked by the trade. Now he goes from one tanking team to another, but at least he may have a chance to leave after the season as a restricted free agent.
