Brad Stevens lauds LeBron James for ‘special night’

Brad Stevens

Brad Stevens can at least appreciate greatness even when facing it.

Stevens’ Boston Celtics lost Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals to the Cleveland Cavaliers 109-99 on Friday night. LeBron James put on another memorable performance. He scored 46 points and made consecutive 3-pointers to ice the game, which had the internet in awe.

Stevens was asked what it’s like to face that kind of player and acknowledged they recognize the greatness.

“Yeah, every time we watch. Every time you watch him on film. Best player in the game. Special night tonight and special night in Game 4. I can’t say enough good things about him,” Stevens said of James.

Stevens also said he thought his team’s defense on James — especially for the first three even more than the second — was excellent.

“Great defense by Tatum. Hat’s off. That was ridiculous.”

There’s not much you can do when James is putting on all-time performances like that. The only question is whether LeBron can do it again in Game 7, which will be on Sunday in Boston.
