Giannis Antetokounmpo has been viewed as the biggest name available on the trade market heading into the NBA offseason, but the chances of the Milwaukee Bucks star being moved seem quite slim.

During an appearance on ESPN’s “Get Up” Tuesday morning, Brian Windhorst said there have not been any substantial trade discussions centered around Antetokounmpo. That is because neither Giannis nor the Bucks have expressed interest in parting ways.

“Right now, there is no Giannis Antetokounmpo trade market. There is no Giannis Antetokounmpo trade discussions. He has not asked for it. The Bucks are not looking to trade him,” Windhorst said.

Giannis signed a supermax extension with Milwaukee in 2023. He is under contract through the 2026-27 season and has a $62.8 million player option for 2027-28.

Antetokounmpo had another outstanding regular season this year with 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game. He was even better in the playoffs with 33.0 points, 15.4 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game, but it was not enough for Milwaukee to win a series. The Bucks lost to the Indiana Pacers in five games in the opening round.

Most of the trade rumors surrounding Giannis stem from a report last month that claimed the two-time NBA MVP is “open-minded” about playing elsewhere for the first time in his career. There were also reports that he met with the Bucks to discuss the future of the franchise, so it is possible those talks went well.

While Antetokounmpo has been linked to some intriguing teams, it sounds like the only way he would be moved is if he were to demand a fresh start. There has been nothing to suggest he is planning to do that.
