New evidence seems to link Bryan Colangelo’s wife to burner accounts

Bryan Colangelo

What if Bryan Colangelo really wasn’t behind all the burner Twitter accounts as he claimed, but another member of his family was?

New evidence dug up by the Twitter sleuths seems to point to Colangelo’s wife being behind some of the secret Twitter accounts that were used to trash some members of the Philadelphia 76ers while pumping up Bryan.

The Ringer dropped a bombshell story on Tuesday that accused Colangelo of having five secret Twitter accounts from which secret information about the franchise was divulged and players were criticized. Colangelo claimed ownership of one of the accounts but denied knowledge of the other four accounts. Colangelo has since doubled down, saying that someone is out to get him.

It doesn’t sound like that is the case, either.

A Twitter thread from Legsanity suggests that Colangelo’s wife, Barbara Bottini, was behind the accounts. A password recovery attempt showed that two of the Twitter accounts in question shared one phone number, while three others shared another phone number. Bottini’s phone number matches the three other accounts. Her email address also matches the three accounts.

If Colangelo’s wife was behind the accounts, then Colangelo seems to be lying when he says someone is out to get him. It seems like it was just his wife tweeting and trying to make her husband look good. It’s not like this is the first time we’ve heard of a wife of a prominent sports figure using an anonymous Twitter account to defend her husband. Plus, Colangelo’s wife does seem like a person who might be concerned about defending her husband’s shirt collar.

The 76ers have said they are investigating the matter.
