Cavs upset over ticket prices Warriors are charging for Finals
Members of the Cleveland Cavaliers are upset over the ticket prices the Golden State Warriors are charging them for friends and family to attend the first two games of the NBA Finals. Many players have even passed on purchasing tickets as a result.
ESPN’s Darren Rovell says the Warriors are charging the Cavaliers $1,300 for lower-level tickets in the corners of Oracle Arena. Though the amount is lower than the $1,600 season ticket holders pay at face value for the seats, it is double what the Cavs had to pay last year.
Are the Warriors trying to gouge their opponents? It’s not that simple; a spokesperson said the price surged because of supply and demand. One look at a ticket site shows upper level tickets available for nearly $500 on the low end, and up to $9,500 for courtside seats on the high end.
By comparison, tickets in Cleveland for Game 3 are as low as $330, though courtside seats similarly would run for $9,500.
Though the prices are exorbitant, such is life when you’re talking about such a high-demand product, especially in an area full of wealthy people, like the Bay Area.
