Chris Paul shares hint about when he will retire

Chris Paul is looking to play a 21st NBA season, and it sounds like the veteran point guard expects it to be his last.

Paul signed a 1-year, $11 million deal with the San Antonio Spurs last summer after he was waived by the Golden State Warriors. He played in all 82 games this past season for the first time since he was with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2014-15.

In a recent interview with Jemele Hill, Paul was asked how much longer he envisions himself playing in the NBA.

“At the most, a year,” Paul said with a laugh. “You know, I just finished my 20th season, which is a blessing in itself.”

Paul left open the possibility that he will not even play another season, which makes sense considering he is a free agent.

Paul, who turned 40 in May, has played for seven different teams and been named an All-Star 12 times. He is also a seven-time NBA All-Defensive First Team selection. The one thing he has yet to accomplish is winning a championship, so he would undoubtedly like to sign with a contender.

Paul averaged 8.8 points and 7.4 assists per game with the Spurs. He was able to stay healthy for a full season, which should increase his chances of being able to find a job this summer. A recent report claimed the most likely outcome for Paul is for him to return to one of his former teams.
