Chris Paul is still searching for his first NBA title, and he is hoping a return to his former team will get him closer to capturing one.

Paul agreed to a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday, his agents told ESPN’s Shams Charania.

The 40-year-old Paul drew interest from multiple teams but decided on the Clippers for what is expected to be his final NBA season.

Paul signed a 1-year, $11 million deal with the San Antonio Spurs last summer after he was waived by the Golden State Warriors. He played in all 82 games this past season for the first time since 2014-15, which was during his first stint with the Clippers.

Paul previously played for the Clippers from 2011-2017. He began his career with the New Orleans Hornets, who initially agreed to a deal to send him to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2011. Former NBA commissioner David Stern nullified that deal, and Paul was eventually traded to the Clippers.

Though he is no longer capable of making the impact he did several years ago, Paul averaged a respectable 8.8 points and 7.4 assists per game for the Spurs last season. The 12-time All-Star will now join a collection of fellow past-their-prime superstars that includes James Harden, Kawhi Leonard and Bradley Beal.

There was initially talk that Paul was likely to return to a different team he formerly played for, but his family still lives in Los Angeles. Paul had suggested he wanted to be closer to his family for his 21st NBA season, and he has now returned home.
