The Phoenix Suns could be without Chris Paul after the All-Star break based on comments from the point guard on Saturday.
Paul appeared at All-Star media day with his right hand in a cast after he smashed it on Houston’s Jae’Sean Tate in Wednesday’s game. Paul suggested he might miss time, but was vague on how long he was concerned about being out.
“We’re 48-10 and if we do miss some time I know the guys are going to hold it down,” Paul said, via ESPN’s Brian Windhorst. “There’s always going to be a frustration with injury. My hand surgeon is part of my family now.”
Paul has a history of hand issues, and his left wrist was a factor during Phoenix’s playoff run last season. The veteran guard did not sound overly concerned about the seriousness of the injury, but the fact that he would not rule out missed games is notable.
As Paul noted, the Suns are 48-10, so they can survive without him for a little while. He has yet to miss a game this season, which may be partly down to his incredible commitment to his physical health.
