Report reveals one of Chris Paul’s secrets to longevity

Chris Paul Suns

Chris Paul helped lead his team to the NBA Finals last season at 36 years old. Now we have a better idea of how he has lasted so long in the league.

Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports reported this week that one of the secrets to Paul’s longevity is that he spends a ton of money on his body every year.

“He spends about a million a year on body maintenance, ranging from trainers, nutritionists, personal chefs, message therapists,” said Haynes.

You may recall that this is a similar practice to what Paul’s close friend, LeBron James, does. Haynes also noted that James spends roughly $1.5 million per year on his body.

The 11-time All-Star Paul is now in his 17th NBA season. He continues to play at an elite level, leading the league with 10.4 assists per game. While Paul is scoring a career-low 14.9 points per game, he is also taking a career-low 11.4 shots a game and is happy to facilitate first for the NBA-best Suns.

Even some of Paul’s old rivals are jealous of how long he has lasted. It turns out that investing some of his earnings back into himself every year has made a big difference for Paul.
