Clippers talking with JaVale McGee, Amar’e Stoudemire
The Los Angeles Clippers are in bad shape after losing DeAndre Jordan in free agency and are now scraping the bottom of the barrel to fill their spot at center.
According to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Clippers have plans to talk with free agent center JaVale McGee. McGee was once a promising center with the Washington Wizards, but he started seeing less action after being traded to the Denver Nuggets. Known for his highlight-reel worthy plays, he also makes plenty of boneheaded plays and was called “lazy and crazy” by George Karl. He only played five games two seasons ago and 23 games last year. The 76ers acquired him in a trade with the Nuggets but waived him after six games.
In addition to McGee, the Clippers are talking with Amar’e Stoudemire. Stoudemire has returned from multiple knee surgeries to become a role player. He was traded to the Mavericks last season and is now a free agent. Dallas, Indiana and the Clippers are said to be interested in him.
Constricted by a lack of salary cap space, the Clippers are also considering bringing back Ryan Hollins. The veteran center spent two seasons with the Clippers and played in 46 games for the Kings last season.
The Clippers only have around $2 million to offer a center with the mid-level exception.
