Damian Jones will undergo surgery on torn pectoral muscle
The Golden State Warriors’ big man situation is about to get even more concerning.
Center Damian Jones suffered a torn left pectoral muscle during the Warriors’ loss to the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night. Jones will undergo surgery this week and could be out for the rest of the season.
Warriors center Damian Jones will undergo surgery to repair his torn left pectoral this week, league source tells ESPN. Jones will meet with a specialist in Chicago prior, and they'll have better idea after procedure if he can return late in playoffs — or if he's out for season.

Jones was averaging 17.1 minutes per game this season and typically started for the Warriors. He was the only 7-footer on the roster for Golden State. With him out, the pressure on DeMarcus Cousins to return from his Achilles injury increases, though he could be a few weeks away from a return.
Kevon Looney and Jonas Jerebko are other bigs who see regular minutes for the Warriors, but they’re not center types. Golden State will probably emphasize their smaller, athletic lineups in the meantime unless they sign a center.
