Danny Green calls Lakers ‘America’s team’

Danny Green

Danny Green thinks that the Dallas Cowboys should step aside for his team.

After Saturday’s road win over the Houston Rockets, the Los Angeles Lakers swingman reacted to the audible presence of Laker fans at the Toyota Center, including an “MVP” chant for LeBron James and a “Let’s Go Lakers” chant.

“It’s been amazing,” said Green, per Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times. “It just shows that this is America’s team. Every building, we have a bunch of fans, a bunch of people cheering for us, rooting for us no matter where we go. And it’s a great feeling.”

The 16-time world champion Lakers obviously may just be the NBA’s marquee franchise. It also helps that they are a Western Conference-best 34-8 this year after six straight losing seasons with zero total playoff berths over that span.

The Cowboys’ claim on being America’s Team does seem to be dwindling a bit, and the veteran Green clearly feels that there is a new sheriff in town.

Lakers fans, show everyone who runs LA with this great T-shirt:
