Was David West trolling with hints of Warriors’ internal discord?
Golden State Warriors forward David West raised some eyebrows when he said the media and fans had “no clue” about some of what the team went through this season, and there’s some belief that that was the point.
West’s comments sparked a bit of a furor about internal strife in the Golden State locker room, and some other members of the organization even joined in, with Shawn Livingston adding that coach Steve Kerr had to deal with a lot of “B.S.” while general manager Bob Myers compared the season to marriage after last year’s honeymoon.
So what’s the deal? Via Marc Stein of the New York Times, things may never have been as bad as West hinted, but instead designed as a ploy to get people talking.

Anthony Slater, who covers the Warriors for the Athletic, said there may be another simple explanation as well.

In other words, there may have been some exaggeration going on. Whatever the case, it didn’t sound like there was much of an issue late in the playoffs, especially if the head coach was making bold predictions such as this one behind closed doors.
